Burn It All Down to Rubble, Then Breathe in the Ashes

from Approximate Symmetry by Maxi Göthling

about

"Burn It All Down to Rubble, Then Breathe in the Ashes" is the intro to the album. Since Approximate Symmetry is a stark contrast to my earlier work, this track prepares the listener for what's to come. At the same time, it serves as a metaphorical antithesis to regression. You have to burn down the old to make place for the new. It's the only way to progress. Not just as a society, but in terms of individual growth. Since Approximate Symmetry is a very personal work, it was a creative outlet for me to process my past and it's also why I thought that this metaphor was perfect for it.
