A Dying Earth, Oh the Humanity!

from Approximate Symmetry by Maxi Göthling

/

about

"A Dying Earth, Oh the Humanity!" is a song about the process of losing things, especially your place and sense of belonging in this world and the agony that comes with it. The very minimal arrangement, especially in the beginning, lead by the alto and bass flute is supposed to give a sense of it being an agonizing march towards the unknown. It's still not always pessimistic, the powerful refrain is a symbol of hope and perseverance.
The melodies are influenced by Japanese composers like Yasunori Nishiki (Octopath Traveler) and Yasunori Mitsuda.
